Finding the Right Fit

Parvis is deliberately small and deliberately selective – not because we wish to exclude, but because we wish to include deeply.

We seek curious, resilient young people who light up when faced with hard questions, whether those questions come wrapped in differential equations or a Beethoven sonata. Musical or coding prodigies are welcome, but so are late-bloomers who simply refuse to accept that economics and empathy cannot coexist.

The process is human rather than bureaucratic:

  • Kindergarten to Year 6: a gentle morning of play-based assessment and family conversation.
  • Year 7–9 entry: entrance examination in mathematics and English, plus an afternoon exploring music, art, and robotics workshops to see where the spark flies.
  • Year 10–11 (our largest intake): rigorous papers in chosen AP directions, a portfolio or performance audition where relevant, and an interview that is as much about the pupil interviewing us as the reverse.

Scholarships and bursaries are generous and needs-blind for genuine talent – over 28% of our senior school currently studies with financial assistance, reflecting every corner of South African life.

We run three open mornings a term and private tours most Tuesdays and Thursdays. The best way to understand Parvis is to hear a Form 12 jazz ensemble warming up while a macroeconomics class argues about quantitative easing in the next room. That glorious, controlled chaos is who we are.
